Changes to the Pack Meetings

These changes are a direct result of the Survey cards we received at B&G. We think it is obvious to everyone a little less noise and discipline will help the meeting run smoother, on-time and not take any of the fun out of it.  To see all of the changes, please click on the titlte above.  Please feel free to add you comments below by clicking Add New Comment either here or below.

  • Pack Meetings will start on time at 7PM sharp.  We will no longer wait until everyone comes in from the parking lot to start.  We are doing this to prevent the meetings from going to long past 8:30PM as we agree it is too late.
  • Pack Meetings will end approximately around 8:15PM.  We have been averaging 8:30 and later and we decided that the on time start will solve this.
  • We will have 1 den act as "greeters" in the hallway by the entrance rotating for each pack meeting.  The greeters will be the scouts and one den leader and their function will be to arrive by 6:45PM and hand out the literature that we normally pass out to the parents.
  • Scouts will be separated from the Parents and CubMaster and escorted to the library or cafeteria whichever is open.  They will have a short 10 minute "Scout Only Meeting" where we will discuss specific topics.  The first topic will be expected behavior in the pack meeting, uniforms and flag ceremony led by Dale K. and Chris W.
  • CubMaster and Asst. CubMaster will address only the parents from 7PM to 7:15 at the latest.  We will discuss the handouts and upcoming events directly with them.
  • Opening Flag Ceremony will be at 7:15PM.  ALL Scouts will participate in the opening ceremony.  The den responsible for the Pack Flag and American Flag will lead the procession in single file followed by each den.  Each den will be lead by their den flag and the den scouts following (order of scouts see below).  The Pack and American Flag will be posted and the dens will be guided to their NEW ASSIGNED SEATING.  They will post their flags first, stand at attention and then the Pack and American Flag will be posted.  Salute and Pledge will follow.
  • NEW ASSIGNED SEATING.  We will still have the parents in the usual spot but we will now have table for the scouts to sit at.  Mark Twain has five "super size" tables that we can easily fit 20 scouts on.  They will sit at the assigned table only and no longer on the floor.  Leaders are expected to sit with them as well.  Our intent is to eliminate the random conversations.  The five tables will be identified by the den flag but will be set up starting from the north end of the gym:  Webelos I, Bears, Tigers, Wolves, WebII.  We will identify these tables in April and we should also walk in the flag ceremony in this order with the exception of the den posting our Pack and American flag.
  • Awards.  We will do awards at every Pack Meeting in stead of every other, thusly it will be shorter and more frequent.  We will also be louder and more organized.
  • Guest speaker will commence about 7:25PM.
  • DISMISSAL PROCEDURE.  Only the den posting the Pack and American flag will participate in the closing ceremony.  We want the remaining scouts to stay at their tables.  Den Leaders will have a short minute roundup of reminder announcements for thier dens but the intent is for the parents to take their kids from the table home.  No more running around.
  • Siblings.  We are very big on the siblings taking part in the meeting.  Since the WebII's will not be here for April and May the siblings may sit at this table or at the end of the den table or in front of the parents.  We will cover this with the parents before the scouts enter the pack meeting.
